It’s been awhile since my last post. Some things in life, like celebrating being married to my beautiful wife for a decade or preparing for the new addition to our family just come *WAY* before building. I got back at it a little bit this past weekend, starting on the rudder.
For the first couple steps of the rudder, I had to fabricate the top rib, bottom rib, shear clips, and stiffeners. I use fabricate as a loose term here, really all I had to do is separate some already formed parts on the band saw that are held together with a small bit of webbing – somewhat similar to how small plastic parts for a cheap plastic model are held together. A little bit more measuring, cutting, and deburring and the parts are complete. I did take some video, but it’s a bit short so I’ll just add it to the next video.
As a side note – I’ve been doing a lot of flying lately working toward finishing up my private pilot certificate. My instructor has cleared me for solo cross country flight, just need to wait for the right weather. I can’t freaking wait!
